Epidemiology section of EDCD deals with all matters related to communicable disease surveillance and outbreak response in the country. This section also deals with RRT reporting focal persons in the regional health directorates (RHDs) and district health offices (DHOs). Disease control section of EDCD deals with specific disease control programmes and operational aspects of the specific programmes for diseases like Malaria, Kala-azar, Dengue etc. Similarly, disaster management section coordinates with all the governmental agencies, UN agencies, national & international non-governmental organizations for optimum level preparedness of the country during disasters & emergencies. Finally, zoonoses sub-section falls under epidemiology section and is responsible for prevention and control of zoonotic diseases in the country. However, at present, the zoonoses sub-section only deals with rabies and snake-bite related issues whereas surveillance & outbreak response of other zoonotic diseases like leptospirosis, brucellosis etc. are being managed by the epidemiology section of the division.
Epidemiology Section is responsible for implementation of prevention and control activities of outbreak prone disease and mobilization of RRT.
